Species: Aedes cinereus
DIAGNOSIS: Tarsomeres entirely dark scaled. May have some scattered pale scales but never developed into distinct bands. Postprocoxal membrane bare. Anterior surface of first coxa with brown scales. Ventral margin of anepisternum bare. BIOLOGY: The egg stage is the overwintering stage. Some of the eggs are nondiapausing so there can be multiple generations in favourable years. They breed in semipermanent ponds with lots of vegetation. Females are not agressive biters. They are most common in the northern parts of the parkland. Females are flying by mid July.
