Species: Aedes flavescens
DIAGNOSIS: Overall, a large yellowish mosquito. Tarsomeres with broad basal pale bands. Abdomen covered in pale yellowish scales with only a few scattered black scales. Pair of bare spots on II to VII.
BIOLOGY: Common only on the prairies. Breeds in weedy semipermanent ponds. Univoltine. Overwinters as eggs.
