Species: Aedes provocans


DIAGNOSIS: Tarsal segments without dark bands. Procoxal membrane with white scales. Wing veins mostly covered in dark scales except at the wing base. Abdominal segments with a basal light scaled band. Postnotum with setae only along posterior margin. Anepisternum with large areas of white scales. Membrane between tergum I and sternum I with thick patch of white scales. Subbasal tooth small. Tarsal claw evenly curved.

BIOLOGY: Adults emerge early in spring. Larvae are found in the edges of vegetated marshes and roadside ditches. Frequents the boreal forest.
