Species: Culiseta inornata (Williston)
Culiseta inornata DIAGNOSIS: Overall body yellowish tan colour. Abdomen blunt. Cerci not visible. Tarsi dark scaled with no banding. Abdomen with basal band of light scales that extends posteriorly along the lateral margins of the segment forming a "^" of light scales on each segment.
BIOLOGY: Overwinters as adult females. Common throughout the prairies. May have a number of overlapping generations per year. Breeds in a variety of pond habitats. Not really annoying to people (Rempel 1953). Is a vector of WEE and St. Louis E and may be a potential vector for WNV.
