Species: Psychomyia flavida Hagen 1861
Found in all types of flowing water but seems to prefer fast, cool streams. Adults were collected for two month period starting in late May (Smith 1984). It appears that the more northern populations are univoltine while populations in the South Saskatchewan River are bivoltine (Smith 1984). It appears that some of the populations are parthenogenic as only females are collected.
